Cal Sensors, Incorported is happy to announce a merger with Opto Diode Corporation (www.optodiode.com), a sister company within the Illinois Tool Works (ITW) family. Established in 1981 to provide the highest output power infrared LEDs, Opto Diode’s product portfolio includes superior performance LEDs (in the visible spectrum), silicon photodiodes, arrays and electro-optical assemblies. The newest offerings include the IRD line of UV photodiodes, which detect photons to 1 nm and electrons to 200 eV. Complementing the Cal Sensors’ near to mid-infrared portfolio of detectors and emitters, the new organization will cover the electromagnetic spectrum from the extreme ultraviolet and x-ray regions to the mid-IR.
The Opto Diode manufacturing facility covers 50,000 sq. ft. and contains state-of-the-art wafer fabrication for silicon and infrared detectors. All manufacturing operations are performed in class 1000 to 10,000 clean rooms for wafer fabrication to assembly and test. In addition, Opto Diode offers significant engineering and manufacturing depth to support prototyping to high volume manufacturing.
The new organization will continue to offer a broad range of standard and custom solutions, and extensive electro-optical design capabilities. The Cal Sensors’ products will continue as a brand of infrared detectors and emitters in the Opto Diode portfolio of products. All products will be consolidated at the Opto Diode site in Camarillo, California. The Cal Sensors’ Florida site will continue to support Cal Sensors’ detector fabrication needs.
